Like little Coumba, a 3-year-old Senegalese girl born with a severe heart condition that required delicate surgery that could not be performed in her country. Thanks to Flying Angels Foundation and its solidarity network, Coumba was able to fly to Italy, to Sant’Orsola Hospital in Bologna, where she recently underwent the operation that saved her life.
Starring in the #salvALI campaign, Coumba is just one of more than 2,400 children Flying Angels has been able to reach in its first 10 years of operation, funding more than 4,500 airline tickets since 2012, including those related to more than 80 medical missions that have traveled to countries.
To make your contribution and offer so many children around the world hope for survival, you can make a donation at

“In the year of its 10th birthday, Flying Angels Foundation strongly reaffirms its commitment to guarantee the right to health and life for all children, at all latitudes ,” comments Mauro Iguera, president of Flying Angels Foundation. – Even in an increasingly complex and unstable global context, characterized by conflicts, energy crisis and economic and health conjuncture, which inevitably have a tangible impact on our activities as well, we are continuing to grow, to open and consolidate new routes of hope, world upon world, such as the Uganda-Bangalore route, which add to the many that have enabled us in 10 years to help more than 2,400 children. Everyone’s contribution, each for his or her part and according to his or her possibilities, is even more valuable today to ensure that our chain of solidarity does not break and continues to reach the ever-increasing number of children who come to us.”
Under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, ENAC (National Civil Aviation Authority), Assaeroporti and Airports 2030, the initiative counts on the growing cooperation of airports. There are 24 member airports throughout Italy: Bari, Brindisi, Foggia and Taranto, Catania and Comiso, Milan Linate and Milan Malpensa, Naples and Salerno, Alghero, Bergamo, Bologna, Cagliari, Cuneo, Genoa, Palermo, Turin, and Trapani (associated with Assaeroporti) and Rome Fiumicino, Rome Ciampino, Venice, Treviso, and Verona (associated with Aeroporti 2030).
“We have been working alongside Flying Angels Foundation for years to support the #salvALI project, because Enac shares the goals and values of this initiative ,” explained Enac Director General Alessio Quaranta. that allows so many children to ‘fly’ to a hope, to be able to reclaim their future. We believe that the ‘sky highways,’ should increasingly be a common good that can shorten distances and reduce gaps, including health gaps, between different places in the world. We are confident that again this year the airport community and passengers will participate in the initiative to help ensure the flights of children in need of care and doctors and staff on medical missions“.
“We are pleased to renew, together with our member airports, our support for the 2022 edition of the #salvAli awareness and fundraising campaign, which will enable the Flying Angels Foundation to continue to ensure that the most fragile and needy children receive the care and treatment they require” said Assaeroporti Director General. Valentina Menin. “Giving visibility to this initiative allows us to contribute in our own small way to the important activities carried out by the Foundation, which responds concretely to the many requests for help for seriously ill children around the world. And it is precisely in life-saving flights that resides a path of hope and healing that we must all strive to provide for the little travelers and their families, because the right to health and life has no nationality or borders.”
“We are proud to be part of an industry, the air transport industry, that has always placed passenger care at the center of its activities and that, even in a context of great difficulty due to the effects of the pandemic and the geopolitical crisis, has continued with great commitment to offer an essential service for people’s mobility. The quality of care and universality of service are all the more essential with regard to people traveling for health reasons: being able to contribute, through the promotion of the #salvALI campaign, to helping children reach hospitals where they can receive the care they need is for our Association and the airports we represent an honor and an opportunity to support an important initiative of human solidarity” concluded Valentina Lener, general manager of Airports 2030.
The #salvALI campaign will be conveyed through a print ad, a radio spot and a TV spot, thanks to the participation of many national and local media partners, who have granted space free of charge.

Flying Angels Foundation is a nonprofit organization that specializes in airlifting seriously ill girls and boys in need of life-saving treatment unavailable in their home countries.
